I completed the Hidden Quest for Africa 5 jewels horizontally, did the level in the time limit and I didn't get a jewel awarded. I have done this several times. Not sure what I have to do.

This is the only quest labelled on the map - says Hidden Quest

Watch the bottom corners. You will need to stack 2 the same in order to have a chance. It is hard but doable. Give it a rest and come back.

Same thing with me. I KNOW for a fact I have completed the Hidden Quest in the Pacific Northwest more than once, but it never gives me the jewel or credits it. I got through the five coins, mostly by luck. It took about ten tries, but on one try, everything fell into place and i got it. All I need is the Pacific Northwest to go to Japan.

HIDDEN QUEST, PACIFIC NORTHWEST: Okay. I figured it out after much frustration. The strategy guide is correct in that no more than three pearls can come down off the board in order to complete the board. So choose a board in the Pacific Northwest, you only have to complete one, so choose one of the boards, I think it was Whitehorse that I used (sorry, I didn't write down which one I used, but it was one of the four that are clustered at the bottom on the map) Do not try to use Dawson, it will not work to only have three drop on that one since there are more spaces below and it would be too tough to use that one. So have the pearls come down the center of the board to open up the spaces to the ones below it so you can do your matches. It is a challenge to not let more than three go off the board, but seriously after doing these puzzles repeatedly, then just really carefully watch the pearls coming down and make matches with them so they don't drop to the bottom of the puzzle. When I first read the hidden quest, I misinterpreted it and did the puzzles more times than I care to talk about, and nothing happened because i was letting more than three drop off or I wasn't keeping track. I'm glad I found this site today to help me out and wanted to share what worked for me, even if it sounds confusing.

Subj: Jewel Quest III
Location: Central America
Quest (Gold)
4 of 6 Areas Complete, still have Uxmal and Copan.
I need to complete these two areas before I can move on. It seems almost impossible. When I realized I could not defeat Sebastian (because he always moves first). I was told I had to go back to complete the Gold Quest in Central America. I am almost ready to give up, but I am so close to the end of the journey. It has been almost one year I have been working on this Jewel Quest III. I completed Jewel Quest II months ago but this makes me want to give up. I am very discouraged because I have used every strategy I can think of and worked very hard to get this far. I have opened all the boxes several times but then run out of time. It’s not fun anymore.

Jewel Quiest III - I am so frustrated with this game I am not going to play it again....(famous last words).
Is there some strategy for this game. I am stuck in the last of Africa (Spitzkoppe) and I have been there for months. I give it a whirl every few days but I can never make the time limit.
As far as I can see you can not plan your moves because whatever you think will descent does not. This one is too hard and I am fine with the others. Wish you could turn off the timer just so I could get through it. A waste of my money.

Someone posted a link directly to the Strategy guide in this thread; look about half-way down this page...look for grannygamer`s post. The game does require a lot of patience but it can be done...if you think this one is tough, you should try the latest one, Jewel Quest Heritage! Very challenging indeed in the expert levels! Patience is the key! Good luck!

I may have made a mistake buying this game. I am older (62) and have had a stroke so it is impossible to do things quickly. I have asked how to turn the timer off but I think this can not be done. In reading posts here, "normal" people find levels hard and I can see where that is a good strategy; but unfortunately for me this makes the game impossible to play. Is there anyway to change the timer?

JQ games are designed to make ANY player struggle to complete them. They are supposed to be fiendishly difficult, at least at higher levels...and no way to change the timer...sorry...

I've only recently started playing this, and am already almost weeping with frustration at those monkeys in China - yet coming back to tackle them again and again.

Update - got those monkeys all safely locked away now.

I have found the Gold games in Central America impossible to beat. Only 4 coins out max at one time and they are all over the place. Let alone there are 4 and 6 and 8 gates to unlock by matching 3 coins (in a row) Very Very frustrating. There has to be a trick or something to this particular region. Anyone?

jd3nascar the trick to beating the central america maps is to play in one spot till all locks are un locked that way the coins only drop in the area where you are working, then turn the rest of the board to gold,if you try to turn the board gold the coins will be scattered.

Beating sabatian is hard but do able trick is to take your time and make the move that gives you the most spaces, but try not to set him up for any. There is no time limit so don't rush.

I purchased Jewel Q III. Love the game. However, I would think it progresses from Hidden - Silver -Gold. I have completed some silver and gold areas, and not the
hidden. (not sure how I did that). When I go into the board it says 'board completed'. HOw do I get to complete the hidden section. Is there a manual or strategy guide on line anywhere?

You have to read the pages of the diary they give you clues on what you need to do to complete the hidden challenges,For instance in africa you have to get five gold coins to unlock the hidden,in china you have to captuere all the monkeys without any dropping off the board.in alaska you have to complete the board with only adding somemany extra spaces.you just have to interept the clues correctly.Africa states it as only five gold coins can outshine the sun,Austrailia says thatthere is a record of 149 siler coins,to unlock the hidden there you must get over 150 coins so dont complete the board until you get at least 150 coins then complete the board, some clues wont appear in the diary until you have complete a certain level

I used to bypass the diary pages as useless until I tried to find the hidden challenges, then I discovered their usefulness.

also some of the boards are easier to get the hidden challenge on than others,so even if you completed a board go back and replay it if it looks like it might be easier to complete the hidden challenge on it.

If there is no green dot for you to advance to then look at your completed dots,if they are silver so will need to finish the gold,or hidden challenge.Read the diary page for the silver dots and you can figure out what the challenge will be.

I have been playing this on my iphone for months now. I've missed one of the jewels (the gold nugget) during one of the hidden quests, but I'm not sure which area I missed it in. I assumed North Pacific, so I've specifically played a board again twice only allowing 3 pearls to drop, but I haven't been awarded the jewel. I've finished both the silver and gold Hawaiian levels, and then the game took me back to the gold Hawaiian level again. Does anyone know what the gold nugget jewel is attached to? I have also read the strategy guide and didn't have any luck there with the identification of the jewel.

Hi, I need help in the South America gold quest. When I play against Sebestian he always wins! Not from lack of trying on my part but I have an egg timer on this game for Rupert only. I can't move until the egg timer settles down. It is also hard to tell if I am to click on each tile I want to change or drag the tiles which is what usually occurs in the Jewel Quest games. It is so frustrating that I can't tell which one I am supposed to use.

Interestingly, Sebastian does not have an egg timer that slows him down. Is this a game glitch or a teachnical thing? I have just purchased all the Jewel Quest games, except the first, as my 1st. purchase ever of these games was the Jewel Quest - Heritage and that took me months to complete & I find all these other games lovely but on none of the others is there an egg timer. Any answers out there??

The egg timer is when Sebastian is making his move,in this game sebastian gets the first move than you get to make a move. There is a game time limit so do dont want to take too long to make a move, but take your time enought o choose the move that will give you the most tiles. If the score is close and you dont have a move that will give you any points, dont make a move that will set up Sebastian to get any eithier.Make him set you up.Hes hard to beat and may take you several attempts to do it.If the game looks like he will win,you can always reset the board to try again, something I do if he gets too many tiles on his first move.

hard board to beat, just have to keep at it.This one you are at the mercy of the gems, best strategy is to restart the board if you don't like the set up of the Jewels you start with in the left or right arms,or both of them.Best thing I can tell you is don't give up,and you will beat it eventually. If you get thru this one you can beat the whole game.

best thing I can tell you is concentrate on the left and right arms, then finish the board, sorry not much I can tell you on this,it's just hard,I struggle with it too.

Did you ever find out how to get into Japan? I have completed all of the other countries and even went back and completed one over to see if i requires all jewels to be filled in. It doesn't give you another jewel, so that can't be th answer. If you find out please share the secret................Barb

I've finished JQ3 249%, by which I mean once completely through and once leaving out one of the Hawaiian boards. The extra 50% is for a third partial time where I completed every silver board but was careful not to complete any hidden quests. So yeah, you could say I am a JQ3 fan. The reason I re-did the gold levels was that the globe locked up after I finished all 20 Hawaiian boards, and I wanted to re-play a bunch of them.

East Asia - Japan and such - is unlocked after you finish most or all of the gold boards. For each gold region, you get a special jewel. For example, in Central America you get a timepiece, if I remember correctly. East Asia has 16 boards, all gold level. There are 8 pairs, each of which use one of the special jewels from the other gold regions. You have to play them in order, too.

I think I maxed out my message there... so the first two boards in East Asia use the timepiece as a jewel. They have a very aggressive timer, not much time on it and it moves fast. If you match three timepieces you get more time. The next two use a different special jewel and skill, and so forth.

All of this is EXCELLENT training for JQIV (Heritage), which uses some or all of these types of boards. I flew through most the silver levels in Heritage, although it has some new twists and from what I've heard, a devilish gold level set. I'm not quite there yet - five boards to go.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions, or ask here, and I'll try to help. I don't feel up to dealing with white pearls or Hekla at the moment though.

It's possible to play Hekla gold without restarting it over and over but I've never been able to finish in time without first starting with a "friendly" board - and that can mean hundreds of restarts until you get a board you like.

I'm going to describe the ideal set up for those two 4-square vertical "arms" on the left and right bottom of the Hekla gold board. Initially, these are, reading from the top, iced, iced, not iced, and iced. I'm going to call them A (top), B, C, and D. You want a board in which the bottom two jewels (C and D) are the same jewel. For instance, diamond-diamond on the left, and ruby-ruby on the right. They don't have to be the same on both sides, but C and D on each side should match.

It's important not to match these two jewels before you warm the bottom one (D). So move a warming jewel into the B position, then you can move it down (without a match) to warm the D position block, and the original (matching C) stone will drop back into its original place. Now move a matching jewel into the B position to match those three.

You will need to warm the A ice block in the process bu that's relatively easy.

Be careful that you don't match the C jewel when you move the warming jewel past it. You need it to be the same as the D jewel.

It's possible to work the board without the matching jewels in C and D, but it takes too long (or always has for me) and I run out of time. Still, setting up the board as described above can take dozens or hundreds of restarts. It's excruciatingly boring.

I know this is hard to "see" through words, but I don't have pics or a video set up.

Hope that helps!

thanx for the explanation. i've tried many and restarted the board many times and like i said,haven't gone near it in a few weeks. will get on it with your diagram and see if i've tried that one too. it was a great explanation, i appreciate the time you took. i'm bummed as i've done the pearls and let less than three drop and still not received the jewel so been "off" that one too. i'd like to finish it. Heritage expert gets harder and harder :-}

I'm finishing Emperor Moctezuma in silver, so thanks for the warning, LOL!

JQ3 is worth finishing for the fun puzzles you unlock at the end. I often play Hawaii and some of the East Asia games just for fun. You'll get Hekla, don't worry. Have you gotten past Sebastian in South America yet? That's the part I hated. Hated. Absolutely. Hated.

Griddle, You brought me luck. I went to JQIII for grins this morning convinced I'd have no luck and on first try got Hekla!! woo hoo, but can't find a region that was opened up as a result of that win! So then went to Europe Hidden which has been a pain for me (match first three moves) and got that too!! so got two more jewels!!! Wow. Now Sebastian (Gold Europe) opened up for me. Got three more there to go to complete that one. Still can't get passed pearls in pacific Nwest tho, even if I have only three drop, still can't get a jewel. oh well, got something to do tonight. Only at a whopping 51% - ha ha ha

YAY, Emma! Have you done South America gold yet? I swear I think it was easier if I did it before completing Africa, but it's hard no matter what and it's nice to have something available to go actually win while you're beating on South America, so I would start it as soon as you can. I don't remember which order the continents open up, to be honest.

Pearls... I think there's a confusion about what is required for the jewel. Not your confusion alone, I think I remember that the requirement was ambiguous or something. So you're still stuck on silver in the Pac NW, right? Let me see if I can remember what the hidden quest requires and get back to you.

linda4442 wrote:East asia gold quest...I have cleared the board 3 times on next to last destination...it refuses to let me go to the last destinattion...is there a trick to it I am not seeing in all the stories in the diary

This is from a duplicate JQ3 thread that got locked.

East Asia gold next to last destination is white and black pearls, right? There's a trick to that one. Every time a black pearl removes a non-gold space from the board, you have to make an extra match to make up for the lost space. Or something like that. Anyway, once you get everything turned to gold, if the game isn't completed just keep making random matches high on the board and don't let any more black or white pearls get to the bottom.

Hope that helps!
