Here's your place to discuss Scratches - a large file horror adventure game.

I've only played the first couple of scenes, and it looks really fun, but the interface is not immediately intuitive, so I have a few tips to get you started:

Before you go searching all over the place for the keys (like I did), Right-click to open your inventory, they are already there

There is a magnifying glass on the left side of the screen, immediately to the left of some inventory objects. To pick up the magnifying glass, left-click on it. While the cursor looks like the magnifying glass, move it over an inventory object, then left-click. The game will provide you with a description of the item.

To pick up an inventory item, simply left-click on it. Right-click once again to close the inventory screen. To use an inventory object with another object in the scene, move the object-cursor until it is located where you would like to use it, then left-click. The game will let you know whether or not the idea you had in mind worked.

The main menu of this point and click horror adventure game has a new game, setup, load, save and quit. The setup menu has hints, surround music, camera speed, text speed, gamma correction and slideshow mode selections. Press ESC to get back to the main menu. There are 10 saved game slots. To save the game, click on a number and then click on 'save'. Press ESC to skip intro and ending!.Director's Cut: Clicking on new game shows a selection for the Director's Cut version or The Last Visit. The Director's Cut is the full game with some revisions. The Last Visit is the additional chapter X years after the ending of the regular full game.

Be sure that you close any additional program before playing the game.

Follow Michael's thoughts by clicking on Michael's Diary that is at top left when the inventory bar is opened.

Right click to open inventory and right click again to close it. To use an item from inventory, click on the item and then right click to close the inventory. The item will now be the cursor and ready to be used on gameplay.

The key doesn't open the door.

It took me forever to figure out how to do anything, I managed to get in the house, answer the phone, and unpack my suitcase. I could only do that with some help from the forum. Most of my 60 min free trial was stuck on credits, beginning and the end, and the intro, neither of which you could skip. Don't think I'll be buying this game.

I wish there was a separate forum for those of us who started with the Last Visit. Any hints, tips etc. would be appreciated! Thanks.

Are you looking for a game thread or an actual forum for a different game than Scratches? There is only one thread per game in the Game Chat Forum to prevent clutter and confusion for users looking for a single point of game information. A forum is a collection of threads or topics. If I'm not understanding your question correctly, please give me more info.

Hi everybody,
I love the game and played today for several hours. But now I have a very big problem, maybe it can be a technic problem. I am trying to find the hidden room. But everytime I try to climb down the rope out of the window the game crashed, tells me, that "scream.ifn found an error" and I have to close the game. I started again and again and again ... but I get the error everytime at the same point. I can go around in the house and everytime I am back at the rope - same procedure. My drivers video and sound up to date, I have win XP, reinstalled the game, installed it again, but the same error at the same point. Any idea what else I could do? I would love to play the game until the end but at the moment i am very frustrated.

The game is missing or misreading a component. Try to uninstall and reinstall the game. You can find the instructions on how to do this in the iWin Knowledge Base on the left hand side of the page in the Customer Support Center. If that does not solve the problem, you may have to file a ticket.

Thank you for your reply. I uninstalled, downloaded and installed again the game yesterday. Now I am back from work and will play again (from the beginning). I will see how far I will come this time.
I will be back soon: with the next error or the message, that I have finished the game

I too am having problems when I reach the point where I need to climb the rope outside the window; at the point where the character decides to climb out, the game repeatedly freezes. I do not recieve any messages about why. I have uninstalled & reinstalled the game several times but to no avail. Every other aspect is okay: drivers up to date, lastest versions of everything. Can anybody suggest something. I don't want to submit a ticket because last time I did,; nothing they suggested resolved any problems.

Now I am back. I reinstalled the game, played the last hours but I get the same problem at the point window-rope again. I submit a ticket and now I am waiting. Seems that I am not the only one with this problem. Maybe the error is in the *.exe or anothe game file? Can't wait to see that the problem will be solved to play until the end.

I have the problem with the rope-window. I submitt a ticket and the first answer was - update driver etc. My drivers are up to date etc. I wrote again and explaint the scene in the game and that I am not the only one with the problem. A friend of mine purchased the game yesterday and got the same problem with the rope. I think they will search now, if it is a problem in one of the game files. If I get an answer I will let you know. In the meantime - waiting, waiting and hoping.

If all of you having the problem with the rope filed a ticket, support would then see it is not an isolated case. Therefore, everyone here who has experienced the rope difficulty and has not filed a ticket, do so now. It will get fixed faster.

Then this is not just me. game freezes up. Then makes me start all over. My compter is new two weeks old.

turned in my ticket today, please everyone else turn one into.

I already submitted a ticket about the problem involving the rope incident.. I did this on 11-3-2009.. I haven't received a reply. Has anyone been given a solution?

I would not install a patch for any iWin game from an outside source. iWin has different synergistic software embedded in their games so the patch could either do nothing or cause you computer problems. You could file a ticket and give the URL of where you found the patch to the CSC, so the iWin software people can handle the corrective coding for the game. Just a word of caution.

... the status of my ticket is "pending tickets" since 11/3/09. Seems that I have to play another game this weekend. Does anybody get an answer in the meantime?

Got answer, said to update drivers and I did, but still does not want to work, still freezing, guess I will ticket them again.

I tried their solutions and they did not work. I requested my icoins back. Awaiting reply

Hi I canot the key to open the front dooe, I have found the key in the inventory but it just pops back into the inventory when I tried. Also found a web site with the patch but it said it could not find the folder. There is obviously an easy solution if the rest of you have got into the house. I relly want to try this game. Help!!

don't know if it helps: Take the key from the iventory, click right again and than you have the key. If you have the key, move the cursor with the key near the keyhole until the key looks brighter than before and than click.

Well have just filed a ticket and from what i can see I am not the only one with the rope problem!!! What is going on??? would'nt they have fixed by now???

I can't find where to put the suitcase? Any help?

If your are in the bedroom (upstairs the first room right) there is a small table on the left side of the desk. Put the suitcase on this table and the typewriter on the desk. Open the suitcase and take out the matches and the pen, read the letter and the book. If you take up the notebook and the calling card Michael will remember the phone-numbers of the secretary and Jerry later.

Answer from Iwin, returned my icoins for this game. Thank you very much for all your assistance in this situation.

After more than one week without an answer of my ticket I asked them today if I can have my money back. So now I got a mail that I will get my money back within the next days.
Hope for all the others with the same problem that there will be a solution for the problem.

Thank you I have managed to play :Scratches: but now I have the same problem as a lot of others I cannot go down the rope as the game crashes. There does ot seem to be any help yet!!!
