Would you believe I cannot find a previous thread for this subject? If there is one, oh well. So what is your favorite movie of ALL TIME? If you can't pick just one, name your top three!!

Okay, me first:

To Kill a Mockingbird

And only if I had to name a second and third:
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Titanic

I agree with your pick of Mockingbird but would choose:
Casablanca
Gone with the Wind
The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit
come to mind immediately, but only 3 top? so hard, like Sophie's Choice

Besides fantasy and Science fiction movies I mentioned in another thread,
I really like romantic humourous adventure movies like
the james bond and Indiana Jones sequels but I must choose so here they are
"Jewel of the Nile"
"Jumpin'Jack Flash
"The Golden Child"
O and maybe if/when I have seen Avatar it will be on top of this list
I can't tell you they are the best movies I ever seen, because I have been
deeply impressed by movies more based on reality and history without happy endings
like 'one flew over the cuckoo's nest', 'Schindler'lis't, 'the color Purple'

Old movies:
To Kill A Mockingbird and Harvey

Being a Tolkien devotee, I must list The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

And one of the more recent movies that I have been watching on DVD lately, is Secret Window, with Johnny Depp. Good movie.

for me, it's got to be "Gladiator" .......... Russel Crowe (as Maximus, General of the Roman Army). I always cry at the end. DON"T LAUGH! He gets reunited with his son in the end (in the elysian fields, but still reunited), I have a son that i haven't seen in many years. I'll leave out the joke about the "happy Roman"

close second is "The Big Fish". Albert Finney as Edward bloom teller of tall tales. Soooooooo funny. I cried at the end of this one too. so will you, so shut up.

Tied for second, is " V for Vendetta " . because i am "V".

honorable mention: "Being John Malcovich"

Oh Hank - you warm the cockles of my tear ducts! I LOVE Big Fish! And yes, I cried, too. Of course it helped that Ewan McGregor is just about my all-time favorite actor . . . lol

One of my recent all time favorite movies is;SABRINA,starring Harrison Ford. I have become so 'caught up' with the charactor 'LINUS' Larabi;that I use this character to play against SAINTS And Sinners Bowling
This is a wonderfull game.I was on another website message board;which I have recently left. They had an arcade and a bowling game was featured;but iwin.com game is far better;in respect to 'animation graphics' and controling the ball.Besides I won against Linus

I have enjoyed useing the character "LINUS" as a means of a delightfull flight into the world of fantasy and positive imagination.
THis is known as a mental health de-stressor;when one's responsibilties, become overtaxing.
In the 1940's the words of a well known song goes this way
" Imagination is funny it can turn a cloudy day SUNNY......."
One of the best features of a active positive imagination;there are no COMMERICALS

I, too, loved Gladiator. There is a lot of emotional depth to
that picture, and a lot of gore. Two of my favorite things.

Did anyone like the Hostel films? The language was
atrocious, but there was a great deal of humor involved.

I have to agree with everybody that there are a lot of movies that I really love. I have a fondness for a lot of the old MGM musicals (Meet Me in St. Louis, Showboat, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, etc...) because when I was young, during Christmas break I used to get to stay up late and watch them with my mom. That was our "thing" we did together just the two of us. But, the one movie I am going to list as my favorite here is Out of Africa with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.

Wow, that's exactly what I did with my Mom! We watched all the old ones together, just her & I...our own special time, no brothers or sisters, no dad, just us...I am the oldest daughter but we were a lot of kids and I think Mom used that time to have some alone time with me since she always seemed so busy and I took care of the little ones for her ( I have 7 brothers and 3 sisters...). I cherished that time alone with her and when I find myself missing her lovely voice and her smile, I pop in an old movie and watch it, alone in the dark, just like we did when she was still alive...I can hear her singing along with the show tunes and I feel like I just got a hug! Sappy I know but there it is...I love you mom! Meet me in St. Louis was one of her favourites...

Isn't it funny the little things that bring back the memories. I still buy wintergreen mints when the Lions Club has them near cash registers in local stores because they remind me of my grandmother. My aunt worked for the US post office and would always bring them home for her so grandma always had them on hand. Whenever I eat one I get the same feeling, like grandma is still there.

I'll have to add The Godfather Trilogy, The Last Don
miniseries, and Bella Mafia to my list. James Marsden
was incredible in the latter.

I just saw Candyman, the first one. It scared me
half to death! I LOVED it!

2. Shrek (I like all of them, but the 1st one is my fave)
3. Interview With A Vampire
4. Mulan (I love disney's movies....)
5. Armaggedon
6. Ghost
7. Titanic (the one with Leonardo DiCaprio. I had to throw that in there cuz you guys don't seem to realize there's an older one. I forget who's in it, but it was made in like 1980 I think. I could be wrong about the year. But just so you know, there's two)
8. Avatar
9. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (not to be confused with CHARLIE and the chocolate factory, with Johnny Depp. I don't care for that one.)
10. The Harry Potter series (being more specific, the 4th one. I also like the books)

Not to be rude or anything, but what's wrong with Forrest Gump? That was a good movie.

My family loves a good movie. My favorite movies are these:

1. Marley and Me (the movie about a dog and a family)
2. The Wizard of Oz (you know what that is)
3. Up (a humorous DreamWorks movie about an old man with his house up in the sky and carries along a boy)
4. Valentine's Day (stars Jessica Alba and Biel, Jamie Foxx, and Ashton Kutcher)
5. Twilight (a romance movie about Edward and Bella)

It's weird to like "Twilight" and "Up", but I watched it and I just happened to find it interesting.

Not to be rude, mean, or offended, but here are some of my disliked movies.

1. Ratatouille (can't spell it and made me WAY too hungry)
2. Avatar (gave my a headache, too much blue)
3. New Moon (not as interesting as Twilight)
4. Karate Kid (I didn't like it, not really interesting)
5. Shrek Movies (not funny or amusing)

I liked Dead Man Walking (Sean Penn).
I really loved Apt Pupil. Its a film that I can
watch over and over, and never become
weary of it. I also liked Beat The Devil.
Its a short film with Gary Oldman, James
Brown, and Marilyn Manson. The last
scene is EPIC.

I run into that quite frequently. I'm looking for a copy of Story Of Women,
and I can't find one for under $20.00. I don't like to deal with eBay or
Craig's List, so it makes it difficult.
