Meet Others - NEW FACES (adults only please)

Starting out in the hotel can be quite puzzling as to how to meet friends when there are no lists to refer to, other than taking the obvious route of doing all the "fingerwork" to click on all those rooms on the display/viewing boards of the Meet Others section of the hotel, and posting a friendly message to someone's wall hoping the recipient will be receptive of your intentions to make a friend.

If you are new and starting out, don't know anyone, wondering how to make more friends, or don't have a room yet to boast about, you are encouraged to post a little something about yourself here whether it's a simple hello, welcoming others to meet/visit you, or disclosing details about yourself in the hopes of meeting and finding other people with similar interests.

If you have been around for a bit but feel "invisible" and you have rooms to share, you are welcome to still "post about yourself" here, but I recommend that you seek out the SHOWCASE topics (there are various room categories) here in the forums to post about your room(s) there, as the purpose of this thread is for finding, meeting and knowing about the people first and not a room..

If there is someone you find interesting and would like to meet them, PLEASE click on their avatar (to the left of their post) to go to their profile and post a message on their wall, or send them a Private Message by clicking on the "PM" button under their avatar. Doing so will help maintain the simple and easy process to find and meet others and view new entries as it in intended.

Thank you heart for starting this forum. I've been around for sometime now, but meeting and greeting can be alot harder than it looks. I've not had any visits or messages posted since I opened up my 1st. room. Here I am now, up on the 9th floor, hopefully 'penthouse bound' and Sooo tired of only seeing messages from that tired looking concierge all the time! lol. So this is emom1st saying hello and welcome to all that participate in this forum, or any and all spin-offs from this intro-offer ! lol. Just 1 more thing, If anyone is ever playing wordscape online party, look me up please, play a bit and maybe even friend me. If not then you know just like you ... I love this idea as I have had minor issues wondering, as u can b anyone u wanna be, and have had minors asking to be friends. So thank you for starting this

Try clicking on the names of people who have posted in the forum, esp this thread, than leave a comment about their rooms and they will usually come back and see you.

You could also click on any of the rooms on the 'meet others' iWin page that appeal to you, as you might have a bit more in common with the people who designed them.

Playing one of the online games can also be a good way to meet people, as you can jump straight into a game with strangers and chat as you play (though not all opponents like to do this - some just want to concentrate on winning!)

on what games can you chat with others, I have not seen a chat section on any of the games I play

I think maybe you mean the online party games, jo-go. At the moment, you can chat during gameplay on Family Feud, Wordscape and the beta version of Jewel Quest Party Online. The fisrt 2 can be downloaded normally from the games section. The 3rd is not listed there yet, as it's still a trial version, but if you're very keen to try it, PM me and I'll look the link up for you.

father's day contest is over. now they have a contest for you looking like your avatar, but i think it ends tuesday. it's called iwin lookalike contest. look for it in forums.

Could someone post what time the Opal Clock resets in Arizona? Since we don't do "savings time" (that's a silly idea - if you use a vacuum cleaner you are saving time over using a broom but tinkering with the clock is not saving time it's just tinkering with the clock).

If ya'll would post a bit bigger I'd appreciate it. My eyes are old and tired.

Hello to everyone new and old, this is a good idea since trying to meet someone in the room section all they have is the same old people's rooms and it is hard to meet anyone else unless they come to your room and leave a message......

I think they might actually be making progress on the featured rooms thing because I just saw my own latest room (7th floor) as a featured room. I never saw my room there before.

Hi Di, nice to meet you. In answer to your question, to the best of my understanding there is no set time on the "opal clock". It is a rolling 24-hour period during which you can only earn 720 opals. For example, let's assume that you've been away from your puter for a couple of days so you're starting out fresh right now. You play for 3 hours and earn 360 opals. Later today you play again for 3 hours for 360 opals. You will have reached your 720 limit, and will no longer earn opals for play until 24 hours after that first play session. You would then be able to begin earning 3 hours worth of opals again, but would then again max out until that same time later in the day that you played the day before. Does that make sense? I don't think I'm explaining it very well, but that's how it works.

Or in other words, from this moment going back 24 hours - if you have already earned your 720, you cannot earn more. Anything below that 720 you would still be able to earn.

Hope I haven't confused you more

Actually the clock is more complicated than that, though you are right that it doesn't matter which time zone you're in as it starts when you first start playing.

Unless the system has been changed recently without anyone telling me, you can actually only earn opals for gameplay (though not for other things like buying a game) during one TWELVE-hour period out of 24. So let's say you start playing games at 9am your local time (wherever that is): you play for 2 hours, earning 120 opals, then later play from 8pm-9pm, earning another 60. (Of course those figures would be doubled if you owned the games you were playing.) Though you have only earned 180 opals, well below your limit, it is now 12 hours since you started playing, so any further gameplay that night will earn you zero opals.

More confusingly still, if you start playing games at 10am the next day, your clock will still be set to run from 9am-9pm.

The only way to reset it is to go a whole 24-hour period without playing games at all, after which the clock will reset, starting whenever you next begin play.

All of this was discussed some time ago in the forum, but may be new to some of you.

But before anyone asks, no, I don't have a good reason why iWin does this. They originally said they figured 12 hours of games was enough for anyone, but didn't really take into account the fact that some busy people may play for an hour or two before they start the day and then chill out after work/chores with another session more than 12 hours later.

Hi, I have only been apart of iWin for about a week. I love playing games. I am unable to do much else right now due to haelth problems. I have three sons. They are 18, 15, and 9. I am 47 and have been with my husband for 22 years. Would really like to get to know some new people. People that have some of the same interests as I do. Hope to hear from someone soon.

I think some kids are clicking on featured rooms and then piggy-backing off them to find others in an attempt to get more awards for friending. I have had quite a few too. But I just thank them for visiting and don't friend them back.

If you think someone is really confused/genuinely looking to make friends though, maybe you could redirect them back to the MEET OTHERS: KIDS thread.

Dini, Thats exactly what I do too, thank them for visiting, but, don't friend them back. If they ask where they can meet other kids, I direct them to the thread you mentioned.
