It can be any choices of songs like the 70's music/songs, current 2009-2010 songs, classical, jazz, or even your own music! We all like some songs, but what is your all-time favorite song? It would be really great if you can "sing" part of the lyrics to the song here. Type in one of the lyrics from your all-time favorite song and the title so we know what it is. LIKE THIS (EXAMPLE): "Don't stop, make it pop, DJ blow my speakers up." ~Tik Tok by: Kesha. Thanks if you can list one.
I like all kinds of music. But one of my fave songs would have to be 'If today was your last day' by Nickelback. It starts off like this...'My best friend gave me the best advice. He said each days a gift and not a given right. Leave no stones unturned. Leave your fears behind, and try to take the path less travelled by. That first step you take is the longest stride.'
runaway love is a rap song. it is sad but it is the best song i have ever heard and has so much meaning and truth it's music video is amazing and captures the song perfectly. go on youtube and type in runaway love by ludacris ft. mary j. blige

Another one of my favorite songs would probably have to be 'Uprising' by Muse. It goes like this....Paranoia is in bloom, the PR transmissions will resume, they'll try to push drugs that keep us all dumbed down, and hope that we will never see the truth around (so come on).

Try 'singing' a bit of those on here, Mary-Beth!
I like Bach too, but would choose the Double Violin Concerto.
But my favourite SONGS are 'Love and Affection' by Joan Armatrading ("Thank you. You took me dancing, cross the floor, cheek to cheek. But with a lover, I could really move... So make love.. with affection"), 'The Man in the Iron Mask' by Billy Bragg (who has great lyrics - one from another song goes "I am the milkman of human kindness. I will leave an extra pint") and 'La Bamba', which gets me dancing every time I hear it ("Yo non soy marinero, soy capitan"). Just thinking about it, I'm swivelling round in my computer chair. I may have to get up and dance round my office now.
It's absolutely impossible to have an all-time favorite. There are too many to choose from, and depending on the mood, it changes. Here are a few of my faves:
No Quarter - Led Zeppelin
Echoes - Pink Floyd
Game of Love - Michelle Branch & Carlos Santana
Glitter in the Air - Pink
Appalachian Springs - The Verve
Much of Me - Steven Curtis Chapman

Crowded House are my favourite band. Neil Finn is an amazing songwriter, beautiful melodies and harmonies. And his voice... just gorgeous. I love all his songs, but among my faves are I Got You (Split Enz), Fingers Of Love, Walking On The Spot (Crowded House).
One of the most memorable pop singers is Shontelle. She has very powerful songs like Impossible which talks about friendship and relationship break up. Another Shontelle song is Perfect Nightmare which in the beginning is making wise decisions. Here is a video that shows the powerful song: Impossible.

Do I just have to name one?
Hmmm....
I'd have to say "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd. I was lucky enough to see them in the early 90's at Soldier's Field in Chicago and it was INCREDIBLE! It even started raining and they still kept on playing!
It's just a really beautiful song. I love Pink Floyd. They're probably my all-time favorite group as well.
ok gotta put my 2 cents n & once again travel a different road~~how about::
Holst's The Planets~Jupiter is always a rousing little tune
Herbie Hanc*ck @ th Village Gate~It Ain't Necessarily So w Summertime on th flip side
Lionel Hampton~Avalon, Flying Off to Harlem
& ABSOLUTELY th theme from Somewhere in Time (ABFAB romantic movie have lots of tissues for the ending, not to mention th entire thing shot on Macanaw Island @ th Hotel there) th composer slips my mind but I have a music box w it too~actually I can't watch it anymore bc Chris Reeve was SOOOO gorgeous then & I can't get my head around his demise~enuf to keep a person off a horse forever......

Has to be O Holy Night because my sisters and I used to harmonize so beautifully with that one. But I love music and now I will have to expand my list with some of these listed here!
Griddlebone wrote:But if there had been a piano at the cake place, and if I'd known NJH could play As Time Goes By, well... he coulda seen a melted Griddlebone.
Darn! If I'd known that, I could have employed NJH's piano-playing as a diversionary tactic and made off with a decent-sized piece of your cake while you were being mopped off the floor, Grid.
well! pm me your email address and i'll send you some samples of my piano playing. i also like a piece tilted "The river flows in you" by Yiruma. somehow it was been associated with "Twilight" and is sometimes refered to as "Bella's Theme" or "Bella's Lullaby" BUT... it it was never in the movie!

Hey, jtreb... forget the utube bit. He already has OUR email addresses. Why hasn't he ever offered to send US some piano samples????? Have we been replaced by those who were fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time??
And on the other side of this whole thing.... I think someone should send US some cake!!

Maybe NJH never knew you wanted to hear his piano playing - as you know, he is naturally very retiring(!) and wouldn't want to go flaunting his talents unsolicited.
As for the cake, I can send you mooncake (a weighty Chinese confection of oily pastry surrounding lotus paste and egg) if the US customs will let it through, but though its calorific value may be close to that of a thick slice of gateau, the resemblance ends there. For a truly tasty treat, we'll all have to talk VERY nicely to Grid and hope she heads back into central San Fran soon.
Yes, yes, I like this idea of talking very nicely to Grid!
Em, my sister lives near you, I think. Should I ask her to find you some good cake? (And if you need any fancy stationery, I have JUST the shop for you.)
