This Game of the Year Edition includes awesome, new bonus content! Make your own zombie with the Zombatar and earn 20 achievements!

Zombies are invading your home, and the only defense is your arsenal of plants! Armed with 49 zombie-zapping plants like peashooters and cherry bombs, you’ll need to think fast and plant faster to stop 26 types of zombies dead in their tracks. Obstacles like a setting sun, creeping fog and a swimming pool add to the challenge, and with five game modes to dig into, the fun never dies!

*Note to players who already bought the standard game, Plants vs Zombies. It will be free for you to upgrade to the Game of the Year edition on August 4th.

Category: Arcade, Action
Release Date: 8/4/2010

It's here!!!!

I'm hoping someone can tell me how this 'free upgrade' works if you already have the original game. I've looked everywhere I can think of!

Yes, how do you download the update?

I am wondering about the update also. I hope we don't have to uninstall and than reinstall the game. My guess is that would cause us to lose our saved progress...

I downloaded it through the purchased games section,
and it didn't save my progress. Its fun to play it all
over again! I had only been playing the minigames.

Before reading the post on here I sent a question to the help center...they gave me this response:
If you've previously purchased Plants Vs Zombies and wish to upgrade to the new edition, all you need to do is reinstall it Testing has shown that previously saved game progress should be maintained by doing so, but unfortunately we won't be able to restore that should anything go wrong.

How tall is it? Mine was over 300 feet before I reformatted in January.

Luckily, i hadn't started on the tree yet. I was still stocking up on
the specialty plants, with only the cob cannon to go.

I do miss my Vasebreaker puzzle game, but I'll have it back as soon as
I finish the adventure mode.

Is anyone else having problems on level 2-5? My screen keeps going black but the game continues therefore I lose.

I bought this on another gaming site months ago and as yet they havent listed an upgrade - is there any difference or anything new on this version that anyone has spotted like new zombies or plants etc

I haven't had that problem. Are your video drivers up to date, and have you updated your
flash/shockwave/java? That might solve your problem.

**POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW**

WHERE is the Michael Jackson zombie? He's been replaced!
The other zombie is cute, but I miss my dose of zombie MJ!

I'd be very careful updating this game because if you are very far and aren't willing to lose your progress it is still a gamble. I was almost all the way through my second go round, had all ten seed slots and three fourths of a zen garden of plants and updated. I lost all my progress. So far the benefits do not outweigh the cost of losing all of that and this is one of my favorite games.

My tree is 923 feet as of today This is the second tree, my first was around 700 before I reformatted late last year.

The good news is that with researching on my own (sorry iWin, your support techs in this instance were of zero help) I managed to backup the data, uninstall and reinstall. Everything is still there

The new dancing zombie was created because MJs people (a year after his passing, mind you) decided it was a copyright infringement. Silly really since the game was released while MJ was still with us.

There is a bunch of new achievements to get, which look to be heaps of fun! Some of the achievements are listed as complete if you have already been playing the standard version, but it did miss a few that I have already done. But, this game is so good I don't mind doing them again.

I've just realised I sound a little obsessed with PVZ

Its a great game, we're ALL obsessed.

I, too, find it odd that MJ's people would object. From what I've read about Michael,
you'd think he'd have gotten a real kick out of being featured in the game. He seemed
so childlike and fun-loving. The character was adorable, and will be missed.

So, what does everyone think of the new
Dancing Zombie? I think he's really funny.
The platform shoes KILL me!

I wonder if the goldfish in his shoes are zombies!

LOL
I do like the way they float around when he moves his feet!

On a happy note, (and a little bit of bragging) my tree is now 1000 feet

Awesome!

I haven't started regrowing my tree. I'm still in the process of getting the
rest of my seed slots.

I keep getting sidetracked by the items in Crazy Dave's shop.
I LOVE the gatling pea, and the wallnut/tallnut repair item.

If you leave your tree sitting there, it will repeat what it has said earlier at random intervals. Here they all are anyway

-Thank you for feeding me! Keep giving me food and I'll give you valuable information!
-Chompers and Wall-nuts work exceedingly well together.
-You want two columns of sunflowers.
-Snorkel Zombies... are best dealt with Wall-nuts on Lily pads, that's how.
-Have you heard of the elusive Yeti Zombie? Some say he likes hiding where it's pitch black.
-How many cherry bombs does it take to take down a Gargantuar? Here's a hint: more than one, fewer than three. Here's a more explicit hint: Two.
-If you're looking for mushroom plants for your Zen Garden, you'll have better luck playing on levels where it's night time.
-I wouldn't worry about permanently damaging your lawn with Doom-shrooms. In time the earth heals itself.
-Have you tried clicking on the flowers on the main menu? Give it a shot! I'll wait here.
-Legend has it that frozen zombies eat slower. I'm here to tell that legend has its facts straight.
-Pssst! Try typing 'future' while playing to experiences zombies... from the FUTURE!.
-What's cheaper than free? Nothing! That's why Puff-shrooms are essential on all night levels!
-Are you hoping to find water plants for your Zen Garden? I bet my phloem you'll have the most luck searching in pool levels.
-Have you noticed that Gargantuars sometimes use OTHER ZOMBIES to bash your plants? Whatever works, I guess.
-Stinky the Snail sure loves his chocolate. Maybe loves it a little too much, you know? He won't sit still for an hour after he's had some.

In levels where it is Pitch Black. There is a pool bonus level in complete darkness that is temporarily lit by lightning. He turns up there.
However, he has popped up in Survival Endless also. Perhaps because I had already discovered him?

I haven't seen what youtube shows...if your talking about level 5-10, the key is to get as many hits on the the huge robot with dr. evil in it...
I always try and save my watermelon catapult plants for the 2 rows that are closests to him when he firsts leans over to spit fire or ice...that way he's getting hit by those..i also try to freeze when his face is near the watermelon plants.

If you notice the more strikes/hits on him, the faster the level meter turns more & more green...

I also make sure to save as many pots (and watermelons) as I can because as you know, he drops that van and smashes them... so in order to replant, you can't use them all in the beginning... I also try not to use the jalepenos or freezes unless absolutely necessary (football players, guy on ice machine & gargantua)...

I actually have a harder time on level 5-9...I hate that ladder man!!!

hope that helps somewhat...if you watch the u-yube, post some of their suggestions
