ON BEING BOOTED!!!!!! now that i have your attention....who decides who gets booted...the players?...i thought booting was because people were being lewd or something like that....i feel sure that people want to boot me. why?...because im honest...because i have really bad days and the people on this site have been a comfort....but only some.....i play jewel quest online...and the whole game slows down...because so many people are trying to boot someone else....where are the managers....i thought that was their job....my goodness, i have met so many beautiful people from all over the world.....the fun...the kindness...the coolness...wow!...if someone hacks me off...i just tell them!!!!!! i dont go and try to boot them behind their back....how cowardly is that? think about it folks! and i will guarantee you....if i see that someone is trying to boot you....i will tell you....and i want to know why you think they would be doing that to you...and i would like the same respect.....i truly think that people use it now to get rid of someone that has hacked them off......come on....be the wonderful human beings you really are

I hear you ulthabalutha! I've seen people boot a player just because they were good and kept winning. What kinda stuff is that? I thought this was a competition, and if you kick out some1 that is better did you really win anyways. I've also seen people try to boot some1 bcz they chatted too much or weren't in with the "group" that was playing at the time. Your right, what a bunch of cowards they are! I would much rather some1 tell me instead of try to kick me out behind my back. I like to make new friends here, but some people on here are just awful, and snobbish. I'll go with your idea and tell some1 if they are being booted. No one would have to boot me, just ask me to leave bcz I dnt like to play with people like that anyways.

I understand you! I only boot people if they are filling up the room and don't play - If someone annoyes me or i'm tired of the same person winning, then I just leave the room. It isn't so hard!

the only time i've booted someone is by mistake, if you click on a profile, some times the game is so slow it clicks on the wrong box, b4 u know it u have booted a person, i have done this 3 times, and each time i have apologised, so all boots are not intended, and maybe newcomers will not realise what they have done

i know what your feeling a friend and i were playing and all of a sudden shes asking who was the person that wanted to boot me and why all i was doing was playing and keeping quite, and as for chatting alot while playing jq thats the only time you are actualy communicating with someone, one on one i have no problem with that it doesnt interrupt the players from playing the game or make it go slow we all have our own boards we'r playing on
tku have a nice day

I have never booted anyone but I saw people being booted several times & few of us curious why she/he been booted.I dont understand why dont they just enjoy the game as how it should be. I know when I play and win continously, people are not feeling happy about it, I could feel it from the comment they gave me, such as..oh,you win again..bravo etc etc..so, I always decide to walk out the room after winning several rounds..but is it my fault to win? or maybe I should play not to win? Brrrr....

I was glad to see this topic, for I've a big problem about this booting of other players. (I'm writing pertaining to "Wordscape", specifically here) First off, as many here already know of me, I feel that the only reason we (as players) should be booting other players is when there is someone who is "completely out of line" and/or "intolerable" to the other room players (i.e. swearing, rude beyond belief, etc..) OR in the event that a person can't get out of the room and asks players to boot them. Many here have gotten to the point of regularly abusing the power of the boot, as to where I've seen rooms where players are "joyously" booting others often for little to no reason (even one day some were doing it to players just because they had no avatar!" And no, I'm not kidding, unfortunately). I've seen room "gangs", where it's a group of friends and they've taken to playing "God" with their boot buttons. When it comes down to this sort of "abusiveness" of the power of the boot, it really bothers me. I also, personally, do not boot non-participants in a room just because they aren't playing. I've got my reasons why I prefer not to, and because of this,...(cont'd)

(Contd.): on several occasions, people have actually gotten very irritated about the fact that I won't join in their "booting brigade'' of a non-participant; which I thought was silly. It's as if many feel you're almost "obligated" to boot the non-participant along with the rest of the room!.. and when I've calmly explained that I'd rather not do so, and my reasoning behind that, I've been chastised, put down and turned against. (And again, I know this might be hard to believe, but it's the absolute truth). I don't, in turn, try to tell them that they're wrong for booting, I simply tell them "my opinion", and in doing so have been met with extreme outrage from players on several occasions. There have also been times when I've seen the room players determined on booting a non-participant, who subsequently begins playing when it's down to like "just one more vote, and they'd be gone!"; so it's not always valid in that sense, either. All I'd like to say, is PLEASE, try to be nice.. be considerate, try exercising some patience & understanding whenever possible, and don't be abusive - then everyone will get along just fine, I think. :o) Thx for reading this.

And the booting goes on
When i see someone being booted i always ask why?
Never an answer or an explanation.
I know one person who boots any one who wins lol
Is it possible that the bootbutton is being removed ????
Its more anoying than a person can be!

One of the most unfriendly online party games on iWin of being booted is Family Feud OP. They boot people because they answer one question wrong. It isn't so hard to forgive and forget. They should at least give that person a second chance since many people don't understand that type of pop culture. It's really frustrating seeing people being thrown out of the rooms of Family Feud because people think, "Oh, he/she isn't really good at pop culture, just boot him/her,". It's only a game, it's not a real competition on television. I'm not going to play Family Feud until this major booting problem is fixed.

EDIT: I understand why you boot people for being idle on Wordscape and wasting time, booting people just because they are rude are just not a great way of dealing with drama. Just press the ignore button on their name and... voila.

I just can't believe people boot other people out of Family Feud just for being a weakness on that question. Everyone has some sort of weakness. For example, I'm not good at science. I may not be good at science, but one of my powerful achievements are in math.

When you want to boot, why not the name of the one who booting in public?? And why is it not seen by the one who is being booted??
Think that solves half of the problem of booting for wrong reasons....

In reaction on the posts of Purplemoon about the booting:

Same as Purplemoon, when I see someone's being booted, I ask why in the chatbox. Never got an answer so far, just like Purplemoon.
Not even from the person that's being booted.....I think that's pretty strange.
I've only booted a player once uptill now. And that was for good reason: the player in question started making racist remarks about a 'black' player. I tried chat-talking to that peron first, but it soon got to the 'booting-point'.
And I wouln't have minded if my name would show as the one doing the booting.

Thankfully so far I did not experience a lot of booting-actions that got to the annoying-point.
I think the booting-action should stay optional. Just in case there really is a reason for booting someone.
But I also think it should be out in the open, so not anonymous.

So, for all of you who would really like the booting to be 'public', please send in a ticket with that suggestion to iWin.
And my question to all online-players would be: if someone asks in the chatbox why someone is booted, please respond?

Please don't shout...On the internet, typing in all capital letter is the equivalent of shouting and I'm sure you don't mean to shout at your iWin friends. Please read the Topics & Guidelines at this link for more information on posting to the Game Chat Forum. You have been warned about this in another forum post today. Please make sure you are following the rules for posting to the forums otherwise your posts will be deleted. Thank you. Peggy, volunteer Moderator

I'm glad I saw this topic. The other night there were a couple of instances of booting. I was in a room playing for awhile and some guy came in the room. Immediately a boot request came up for that person. I didn't know them or know why so I did not respond. Suddenly that person was gone. Three seconds later this other poster came in the room asking why so and so was booted. She was badgering us questioning why, shouting, and even became abusive. I replied that I did not know why they were booted. She turned on me acting like I was the one who did it and she was saying she'd get me, etc. She came in the room to be a troll rather than play. In the past, there were 2 incidents where I booted a player. Both times that player was focused on being abusive, yelling at people, using profanity, and trying to disrupt the game.

Lately, I've seen several boot requests come up because the player was good. One of them was a friend of mine who is a great player and she had won several rounds. I enjoy playing with her as she's a fantastic player. She wasn't being abusive at all, Just playing and would type "good game, or well done" but that's no reason to want to boot her.

Also, I don't go by ratings. There are different people I play with because they are polite, courteous and chat a little during the game. Those are the players I like. I don't enjoy playing with those who never say anything b/c it's like playing with a robot. I think I'm a good player and win a fair amount of the time but my rating doesn't go up. Sometimes I win and my rating goes down in points. Sometimes it goes up in points. I don't know why. I've never been able to figure it out. I'm not in control of the weird rating system.

Totally agree with ginger.
JQ is for me to relax and have fun. When i play with people who like to contest and between the games making fun i really have fun!! Laughing is good for human i thought LOL.
I don't mind ratings and i don't mind winning or loosing.
Maybe those booting people should try not taking it all so serious??...Maybe they win more that way

I will only boot someone if they are being mean but not if they are winning or just for fun.

Like Fireball100 I won't boot someone just for the sake of booting them. I thought these games were to be played for fun and enjoyment. Also to meet other people that like to play too. I also would rather be told up front instead of behind my back. If u r booting someone it should be coz they r being mean or using bad language.

I know that we all like the online games and thats a good reason that no one should be booted off of any games onless they are mean and even then it should be up to the managers. Am I right people.

the only time i ever booted anyone is when that particular person isn't playing at all. especially in wordscape. the non player takes up a valuable space for someone who is trying to get into that room to play the game. if ur not playing, then sign out of the game.

I agree with all. Sometimes u hit the boot by accident when looking at profiles, then u just say oops. You don't boot people becuz they're good or been in that room for a long time. I you hav a problem with that, you leave, and go to another room. I was once booted off of wordscape becuz my computer was giving me trouble and I didn't get a word each time. They didn't even give me a chance to explain. Once I was playing WS and the other person got miffed becuz I didn't come up with big words and said some nasty things to me, oh well. Get a life.
I just ignore the boots, never gossip and play. Even when I can only play slow becuz my wrists are sore, it's fun.
talk to u all soon. Cheers Ruby from Canada

Booting has be used inappropiately also. I can not tell you how many times people have ganged up on other players because they did not like them or had issues with them from facebook and other personal endeavors. The family feud game online has declined in the team forum because of people doing screenshots after they have harrassed people millions of times. Well, I do not know of any other popular games such as star trek and world of warcraft that give players such power. There have even been people dating and talking inappropiately with minors. This is a disgrace and should be investigated. People should not be booted out of vendictiveness!!!!!!!

I am new at this and would like to ask anyone who wants to answer: How does one go about booting someone else?? I had no idea that was possible until I read these messages. I have lost connection to the server several times - Is it possible I wasI beeing booted?-because most of those times I was on my way to win.

Once in a room there have to be 3 people wanting you out.
They all press on booting. Never seen that was neccessary... so that's why most of the players never boot. Since we are all here for playing a game and having fun
Booting is rude... you always could set someone on ignore.

the only time i boot is when a person is not participating in the game. after 5-6 rounds of wordscape, if their score still reads zero, i will boot...unless they put a message saying be right back or something to that effect, then, no, wouldn't boot

I have been booted several times because I kept winning. It takes three players to vote someone out, and apparently the others in the room didn't like losing, and that's how they showed it. It comes up on the receiving end of a boot as a game crash and then you're thrust to your desktop.

Others have voted players out because they sit idle at the bottom of the room, and the message comes up, so-and-so will be deleted after three more boot requests. Apparently, some players are offended by players who just want to watch or sit out a particular board.

I've never seen anyone really acting badly or using profanity, but that would be another reason to boot someone: if they are harassing other players during a game or making inappropriate comments.
