But the bottom line is that FB brings in cash, and the hotel does not - at least not directly. I am here rather than on a competitor's site for two reasons: Jewel Quest and the iWin Hotel. Thought of that way, the money I spend here on games other than JQ is linked directly to my enjoyment of decorating rooms. However, I don't think the bean counters at iWin see it that way.

Hi Mari. Unfortunately, the moderators have not heard anything from iWin with respect to the lack of new or sale items in Hotel. However, if we should hear anything we will be sure to post any updates.

One possibility is that there is one person who does this as part (emphasis, only part) of his or her job, and that person is on vacation. We did get nice items several weeks in a row: garden, gym, clothes, wicker, pets (not much new but I liked both items), and windows to the world. On the last, I liked the sale items a LOT, not so much the dark expensive windows. We had weird pets before that.

I'm sure it's harder for those who have been around longer and 1) have opals burning a hole in their pocket and 2) remember new items multiple times a week. Of course, there was less in inventory then too. I'd love new items and am really disappointed at two weeks in a row with nothing, but I'm just taking the time to save up opals because MY pockets are too empty to burn, LOL.

I hope this is only temporary and better things are around the corner. This situation reminds me of having a favorite tv show and all of a sudden it get cancelled. Let's hope this is not the case with the iWin Hotel. I LOVE this place.

Well, ok then. The only reason I came to iwin was for the hotel. I also miss the contests.
If iwin would have given us just a few more people and animals, it wouldn't be so bad.
Since iwin has lost interest in the hotel, I will use up my remaining icoins and close my game club account. No reason to have one now.

If they consider the way they have been releasing new items & posting sale items "regular" I hate to imagine what they think "sporadically" means.

iWin was one of the various gamesites I used to play free games on. Then they opened the hotel & I was hooked... I even became a paying member. I have since watched the hotel slowly go down hill. The Hotel seemed kind of mistreated & ignored like Cinderella (the unwanted stepkid) When they got involved with Face Book & things declined more rapidly. In the beginning we got new items once every week. That increased to getting new items 2x's a week. Then it dropped back to once a week. After that maybe we got items & maybe we didn't. Now they say items will be released sporadically... I'm guessing that means once in a blue moon when (and IF) it occurs to them to throw, those of us that came (& stayed) because of the hotel, a bone. It's been nice & I've met a lot of really nice people here, but if this is how they are going to treat paying customers then I for one see no reason to remain a paying member.
All I can say is iWin had a BRILLIANT idea when they came up with the hotel
Unfortunately the "powers that be" weren't 'bright' enough to realize what they had & maintain it as it should have been If you don't believe me then check out the info for yourself at http://websites.faqs.org/iwin.com/
You can see by the graph when the hotel was booming & when it started to decline

They can't compete with games on FB that are free to play, and frankly, more enjoyable. Graphics are 1,000 x better. All around better experience than the hotel now. It was fun while it lasted, but they didn't keep up with the competition.

The games bring in more money to iWin than Opals; after all, iWin is first and foremost a game site! There are nearly 200,000 registered users, all of which have access to a suite of Hotel rooms but how many of those users actually use the Hotel or buy Opals? The Hotel is not considered a revenue-generating offering. Yes there are some revenues generated by Opal sales but enough to offset all the resources required to just keep the Hotel running? I would doubt it; without the games, there would be no Hotel. iWin has chosen to focus its allocation of resources and prioritize the gaming side at the moment; will it be like that for the foreseeable future? iWin hasn't specified the time frame...Dee, volunteer moderator

I posted this to the Crude/Vulgar language thread but it seems to apply here as well so...

Just a personal thought here,
not as a mod or in any way representative of whatever iWin may be thinking, but perhaps if the Hotel nonsense would cease, the Support Agents might have to spend less time dealing with all the complaints about the nastiness going on in the Hotel and Support and iWin might have more time and resources available to work on the Hotel - maintenance & items etc...I want to make this perfectly clear: these are my own ideas on the subject and NOT any indication of whatever iWin has in mind. Going by the number of people sending me (and the other mods no doubt) PMs to complain about the crazies, there must be a lot of tickets being submitted...just saying...

The point is that several other sites do a much better job than iWin of developing games, reviewing them and offering walkthroughs or discounting them.

It seems self-defeating for iWin to concentrate on these areas, where it performs comparatively poorly, when it had a GREAT unique selling point in the hotel. Of course, opal sales bring in a negligeable amount of revenue, but many of us buy our games here or play iWin's games online (making this site more attractive to advertisers, another source of revenue) only because iWin also offers the hotel.

As for the suggestion that IWin's developers may have too little time to create new items because of all the time wasted dealing with complaints about bullying/bad language, I can hardly imagine that to be true: the skills needed to design computer images are quite different from those required in customer service, so I'd imagine that they are dealt with by different people... if indeed the complaints are dealt with people at all. As we've all seen to our frustration, the intial response to most support tickets is an automated one.

At this point I just wish they would sell Hotel iWin to someone that would run it like it should be run... I'd gladly follow the hotel & spend my money there

I have no Face Book acct & don't want one... don't want anything to do with it! I am here because of the hotel & became a paying member & bought games because of the hotel. It has given me hours, days, weeks, months, even years of enjoyment and relaxation as well as giving me the opportunity to meet a lot of friends

Just because the "powers that be" at iwin have lost interest in the hotel does not mean I have I'm here as long as the hotel is, but iWin will not see another penny from me unless they adjust their focus back to the hotel.

As far as all the nastiness that is going on at the hotel I would like to say that MAYBE if people were happily decorating with new items they wouldn't be "wandering the halls" causing trouble... Any mother can tell you that boredom often leads kids into trouble

What is that saying? Idle hands are the devils playground... or something like that. Maybe iWin could mitigate some of the problems if they gave us new items in the stores and fixed the numerous issues that plague the hotel

Hi
Yes, I do miss the sales very much, but when you're a newbie like me (still need 200,000 plus for PH) the new items are not as important - there is still so much I want to buy!
So I'm staying with iwin, I love it, I have made lots of great friends & have a huge amount of playing to do before I get enough opals to buy what I want.
I'm sad to see so many nice people leave, but I can understand your frustration.
And note the new heading here - 3rd & 4th Q - lol

Hi everyone
I too am fed up with the pittance of sales items if things don't change soon they will loose their hotel customers and then their FB customers. Players will only put up with this half hearted attempt at throwing us scraps before we leave to find another site that appreciates us as customers,

Okay, I'm going to put my Pollyanna hat on for a moment and suggest that maybe they're backing off new items and sales and such in order to devote some effort to fixing the hotel. You know, reduce the day-to-day transactions so they can look at the big picture?

Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?

My suggestion, my Hotel friends (and contest friends, too - those were the best!):

TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS of your favorite rooms before they disappear. Screen shots. If you, like me, have put a lot of time into certain rooms and the iWin folks decide to one day do away with the hotel and - poof - it's gone, I for one want to have "something to remember it by." JUST IN CASE...

Hi I agree i feel we the players of the hotel who do not like FB have been used for membership then dimped when something better came along. All very bad business tactics which leaves a lot of the long standing players who stayed with this site through the bad times with a very bad feeling of injustice. either shut the site down or imoprove conditions for the members who have been loyal. all this speculation and the whispers are not sitting well with the long term customers. We should be told one way or another.

U can always vote with your feet or fingers. Bottom line u don't have 2 be a member to use the hotel and it's free. So it gets low priority fr iwin.I gave friends server space for free & if they complained abt service I told them to pay someone if they wanted cust serv. Some ppl pay for opals but u don't have 2 pay. I wanted some big sales 2 get things I can't buy. Don't know if I;ll ever see thatnow.

To all my old iwin friends.
I cancelled my subscription to iwin, but I wanted to say to all of you. I to feel used my iwin.

They used our money to build there site up.
They used our loyalty to keep it built up.
They have given us no consideration whatsoever at any time.

I feel it is a shame that they have used us and then just dropped us for whatever they want and decide with no consideration for (us) the ones who got them where they are. As mentioned above I look for them to just do away with the hotel and where has all that money gone that we spent on our rooms? In their pocket. They have it. We have nothing. I went back to my old game site. I will not do FB. It has been great knowing all of you, and I will miss you. But I am through with iwin.

God Bless You All Dear Friends and Members

So sorry to see another friend go. I hope you have better luck with the old gamesite than we have had here. It really is a shame that thay have let such a brilliant creation turn to dust. I too want nothing to do with FaceBook and I really wish that they would wake up and smell the coffee!

I fear that our cup of coffee is a Short (8 oz), while Facebook's is a Trenta (31 oz). Looked at it from that angle, you can't blame iWin for following the (bigger) money.

I respect your decisions to move on, but don't understand the argument about "all the money we've spent on our rooms". The Hotel is free, and at the moment, barring Pier 1 items, has more item choices than it did when many of the great rooms were built. (Hotel glitches are a subject for another thread; I agree that iWin is letting us down on maintenance.) I know you can choose to spend money to buy more opals, but how is that different from buying a game? A HOG lasts about 4 or 5 hours, tops, then that $7-20 is gone with no further entertainment value.

I am sorry to see people go, because the root of a community is the individuals who make it up. But I hear your frustration and, as I said, respect your decision. I think the little flurry of new items we had a couple of months ago represented iWin emptying whatever stock it was holding in reserve, and at least we got those. And Pollyanna still says that iWin may be building a new Hotel from scratch in the background - but Sad Sack mutters that it probably will be based on Facebook.

In response to this remark.
You can also buy icoins to use in your rooms. The hotel is free, but the items are not, anyway you look at it. You either buy the icoins to buy opals (which you almost have to do in order to get anywhere in this milennium) or you buy the games and play for hours on end to earn the opals (Which I do not have the time) Now granted it was my own fault, but I spent a small fortune a year or so ago on my rooms just for that reason, to decorate them... Had them all filled, I am ashamed to say now how much I did spend but it was substantial. So with that being said I am sure there are others on here who have done that also. Especially the ones who I consider old friends and have been on here almost since the opening of the hotel. So in response. Yes, For those who have done as I have in the past and then iwinn decides to just let the hotel decay or close it altogether that is a lot of money down the drain.

there seems to me to be a conflict in what i am hearing. everyone luvs the hotel, their friends & decorating their rms & doesn't want to c it gone. but yet all r cancelling their memberships. did it ever occur to anyone that cancelling ur membership is the one thing that will definitely cause iwin to go out of business? hence no hotel. i still luv to decorate my rms. there r no limits to the things u can create, the friendships r worth more than my membership fee & i do like my games.

i don't care how much better facebook may be. i don't want to be on facebook & i'm sure many others don't either. facebook doesn't have a hotel. facebook doesn't have all my friends. facebook wants all my information. also, what else would everyone do if they spend a lot of their time decorating & the hotel is no longer here? just play games on another website? seems a lot less fun to me. there r other virtual reality sites where u can decorate & have jobs, go shopping, etc... oh, & have virtual sex!!! but they r way more complex & so very different. also if u want really nice things u have to pay for them... with cash!

as for selling the hotel to another site, or iwin itself, what company would buy it especially now that everyone is cancelling their membership & they c that the revenues r extremely low? not a very good investment opportunity. just sayin.....

I think people closing their membership is to try & show iwin that unless the hotel continues to function well, they are leaving.
But you have a very good point - maybe we're shooting ourselves in the foot & will give iwin even more reason to neglect the hotel.
I am not a member, neither all access or a monthly fee appeals to me, but in the short time I've been here, I've bought all my games from iwin - even when they were cheaper elsewhere lol. Why? The hotel is why, I love it.
Like you, I cannot see another game site buying the hotel, but I can see one adapting the concept, and if it's right, & I like it - I'll go there - but hope all my friends come with me! I've met some wonderful people here in only a few short months, I don't want to lose them, but like many others I'm checking other sites on a regular basis. Constant glitches are getting a little too frustrating.
Judging by the forums, they are a LOT fewer people on iwin now than before the summer of this year, in about six months I have seen the number of comments getting fewer almost daily. Maybe this coincides with iwin on FaceBook?

In the amount of time since I've been here I've seen things go from bad to worse..WHY would anyone want to pay for something they are dissatisfied with. I've never been a paying member, but I understand where they are coming from

Exactly..... Which is why I cancelled my membership. It was not revenge on iwin or to prove anything. Just that I am no longer satisfied with the poor attitude iwin has toward their customers, and the lack of interest they now show as well with the hotel.

Offers from another site are now more appealing to me than anything iwin has. The hotel was all that ever kept me here in the first place .

Anyway it is only a game site and certainly not the only one.
