Go to the shopping zone and click to "purchase" a frame with your opals.

When it appears in your room, you click on it and a menu of choices will come up. One of those choices is "Edit." Click on Edit.

A mini-window will pop up that offers you the chance to browse your own computer's hard drive to the location of the picture you want to upload. Follow directions from there.

If you have not yet bought the frame, but just put it in your room, you will keep seeing that error message if you try to upload a picture into the frame.

Once you click to buy the frame, however, you should find that you can upload any picture from your hard drive as described above.

I don't know if any one else knows that if you click several picture frames some of them all ready have pictures in them. I found two that I liked and bought them.

Why you are seeing pictures in the frames already is because the user who sold them back to the store did not remove their pictures. You can remove the previous picture and populate the frame with your own, simply follow the instructions when you edit the frame. For more help with frames and Hotel iWin, click on the blue letters. It will take you to the main folder in the iWin Knowledge Base which is a complete compilation of information regarding the use of the iWin site. Thank you.

I was able to test those three pictures I did this morning in frames and didn't have a problem. I've had problems in the past, but not this morning.

I tried to clear my frame before I sold it back, but...
You have to do that in your room & then send it to storage so you can sell it. The thing is I accidently hit flip instead of storage & guess what??? The picture I had just removed was still in the flipped frame. I removed it & clicked flip to make sure the frame was empty & there was the picture again! Soooooo I have to ask...
"Is it actually possible to empty the frame before you sell it back?"

I haven't been able to change pics in any of my frames for a long time. They still have the pic I originally put in them, but I can't delete or change it.

I am having the same problems with my frames also. It started 3-28 late evening. Was able to change picts in frames earlier that day but late evening couldn't change any. Need a fix for this and quick because when this happened a long time back it only got worse.

yes, terri i have been having same problem too. also, when you r able to remove a pic and replace with a new one...well, sometimes hours or days later, the frame will revert back to the OLD picture. such a shame that iwin cant/wont take the time necessary to fix up this hotel for its paying members. the hotel is the main reason i have stayed...because games you can get anywhere else....and i did file a ticket already....now we will just wait and see...

Is everything working ok with every1's accounts today? I am still unable to change, remove, etc with frames. May find one in storage from time to time w/o picture in it and then will add picture to it. But I don't understand how the picture is even being removed. When I checked all the frames in storage, 43 of em, only 1 of them had no picture so I added picture to that one. Now I have several frames in storage w/o picts. Once I add a picture to it, I can't change it or remove it, sigh. Any1 else having similar problems ? Tickets say "Bug Ticket" so just waiting till they eradicate the lil rascal. lol.

ok, STILL having problems with frames today. i got a response from the ticket i submitted, however, no actual useful information.....just the usual. you know, ongoing issues with hotel and that iwin is aware of the problem so ticket really wasnt helpful at all. i hope they fix this problem sometime soon. lol, at this point, i'd rather have frames work and opal wheel not

Just a heads-up, for those who might not have noticed, the custom frames have been removed from the shops, along with a few other items; they are no longer available for sale for a variety of reasons. They can be sold back but will no longer be available for sale. Breaking News has a post about Hotel issues right now and should have something about removed items soon.

so far the only items i noticed late last night that were not available to buy were the frames & the tall perfume bottle. will the frames & all the other items that have been removed from the 'store' be available again in the future?

OMG really? now, no more frames?? they keep taking away from us...what a shame..... so, this is iwins resolution? to tell us to be patient for months and months and months while they attempt to fix problems...only to have resolution of taking yet something else from us? will this be fixed, or just over and done....

Is this really a surprise considering how the items that were removed have been used by some individuals in the Hotel and the content of the pictures that were put into the frames by these same people?

oh goody I know what I'm guilty of & hav bn slapped on the wrist for (ending phrases with prepositions for 1) but censoring us this way does seem a bit extreme

However, in the case of removing frames, problems did abound aforehand. It seemed to be a combination of hotel guests framing & refering to something that I see as a glitch in iWin. Dare I say it? I refer to the naked avatar. AND the frames just not being able to upload a new foto~a problem that has caused me to be unable to do the, sometimes daily, updating of a room. In that case I'm almost glad the frames have been removed, thereby relieving me of yet another iWin frustration

Removing the speech bubbles? That seems to be the easy way out. It doesn't help the mods with checking each and every bubble (they do, I think ) that's out there now but it keeps the inventory from increasing. WHAT A THANKLESS JOB THAT IS

The perfume bottle? That particular design flaw was noticed the same day it came out guess somebody musta used the speech bubble to say something inapproiate-for-family viewing

The rest of what I have to say is known by the ppl who know me, here, anyway, & so I needn't say it. other than to say~~~~~~~~~~aw man~~~~~~~~REALLY

Susweka, I don't know how many times the mods have to say this but I'll say it again: the mods are not responsible for moderating the Hotel and we most definitely do not have any responsibility for checking speech bubbles! Why would you think that? It is not, and never has been the mods jobs to keep the Hotel clean...

As for the removed items, I for one am glad to see them gone; if iWin has decided that the troubles with the picture frames and the number of community issues that have been reported, by other users, because of them is just not worth it, then removing them is a logical solution, isn't it? Eveyone should remember that it's the users of the Hotel that report community abuse issues to iWin. The mods are users as well but we aren't the only ones who can be or have been offended by the misuse of framed pics, door links, speech bubbles etc...There was a post a while back under the iWIn Forums section that was a reminder from iWin that everyone should respect the Code of Conduct and the Terms of service while using certain items. If that wasn't happening, is it any wonder iWin pulled the plug on certain items? Maybe now, it will start being safe to wander the Hotel looking for ideas or great rooms without being affronted by crass and abusive comments and pictures...I sure hope so. MEA CULPA I didn't mean it that way & I did say you have a thankless job. So who does check for the inappropriate? Just who is iWin, anyway I agree with you about being able to travel about the hotel un-affronted. I recall "reporting" the naked avatar & sometime back there was a "pal" situation that even I found shocking I know, huh? My problem is that I tend to throw myself into the middle of controversy. For that I guess I have to thank my mom for raising me that way. Again, MEA CULPA

Susweka, I just removed the quoted parts of your post. The post was getting a bit long... Dee, volunteer moderator

God bless your mom, Annie. In my humble opinion, we hotel residents are all iWin. A lot of folks play the games without using the hotel. Therefore, we should all "check" on the appropriatness of the rooms we visit. The mods are for keeping the forum tidy.

Thanks Joanie, you said it perfectly! The users of the Hotel ARE the ones who are responsible for reporting anything they find offensive or abusive. The mods have explained that quite a few times now but somehow, we still get the rap for what some perceive as selective booting from the Hotel. It is the users who must report what offends them and then and only then will the Hotel be a family friendly place! The mods have quite enough to do just keeping the Forums ''tidy''; taking care of the Hotel is the job of each and every one of you, the users! Dee, volunteer moderator

A reminder to all: this topic is about Framed pictures and Profle pics so please keep the posts about those items. If you wish to discuss specfic abusers and trolls in the Hotel, please do so by PM, as posting in the Forums or on your Hotel walls just gives then what they want: attention. Better yet, ignore them! The Forums are not to make the trolls happy and talking about them all over WILL make their day. Any posts that are not on topic will be deleted or edited to bring them back to topic. i apologize for my earlier post, veering off topic. i was just blowing off steam at my total & utter frustration learning that the frames have been taken away from us. i should have known better.

i do have a question, though: will we be allowed to continue to use the frames we currently have? if not, then it seems it would only be fair that if there is no other choice than to sell them back, we should receive the full amount we paid for them. is anyone with me on that???

would a moderator be able to at find an answer to my question?

second thought, more of a request, how about we all submit tickets on requesting the full cost of our frames we purchased if we no longer can use them...
hmmm...maybe they will listen...???

Rushann, I got some pictures to load in the frames I had yesterday and today; it took a while to get them to load up but that could have been the size of the picture too. I got one loaded up quite quickly but the other one took its' sweet time. . So I'm holding on to my frames for now since they have become a rare item.

You can always make the suggestion about the full price return though. You know the drill: file a ticket under the Suggestions and plead your case. It can't hurt! Dee, volunteer moderator

Where did the frames go? I just went to get a frame to see if they were working & it looks like frames have been from the store.
I looked under "wall" items, $500 where they have always been & they are not there!!!

Read backwards a bit; they were removed on Apr. 12, along with doors and speech bubbles and some other things. I haven't noticed anything else missing but deschanelle said the tall perfume bottle was gone too. Here's what it said in Breaking News (I'm repeating it here because I find it difficult to get Breaking News to load - guess I should report that, huh?)

"04/12/2012: There has been a necessary update to Hotel iWin which should improve performance, though we are still addressing some outstanding issues. Unfortunately, this required the removal of all Customizable Frames from the Hotel Shops for purchase at this time. If you already have Customizable Frames purchased, your personal inventory will not be affected but should you opt to use the "Sell Back" function, the frames sold will no longer be accessible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused."

Thanks Griddlebone
I had checked Breaking News but it was blank (as usual) when I check it... I'm not glad to see the frames go, but I understand why iwin made the choice it did. They really added individuality to a room (if used appropriately). As always the few spoil things for the many.
sigh

momaie, i am able to get my empty frames to load new pics but cannot remove my old pics from frames. luckiy i have loads & loads of frames & i have faith that iwin will fix this problem. they recently fixed the problem of the changes to the rms not updating on the featured pages & the elevator. i submitted a positve ticket thanking them for at least giving some attention to that issue. hopefully the frame issue will be fixed. maybe they could come out w/ pictures, though they wouldn't be to everyone's liking or have our own personal stamp. i am so sad.*sniff sniff*

I have not attempted to change any of my framed photos so don't know if that is an issue in my hotel rooms or not. I have not, however, been able to put in a profile picture for ages. I put in a ticket some time ago and recently another. Any suggestions?

I uploaded a profile picture just a few days ago and it worked fine, although I did have to resize the picture I wanted to use ( a screenshot of my room avatar's face) to be the right size file. Try playing around with the picture you want to upload; sometimes it's just the file size or type that is the problem. It took me a few shots at it but it did work...

yes, i am able to use the frames i currently have, BUT with issues.... when i want to remove a picture, i cannot reuse the frame right away. i have to wait a day or so for it to actually empty out and become blank. and second, when i load a picture and adjust the size i want, when i leave my room and come back, the picture shrinks....and that has never happened before this whole frame issue took place this past week. anyone else having these problems? does iwin plan to fix this issue for the people who have existing frames currently in storage or in our rooms? and one more thing, i agree, if we do want to sell the frames back, i believe we should get full price, not 1/2. afterall, it was not our decision to discontinue the frames...but, LOL will not be selling back frames anytime soon, i luv having them in all my rooms!

Me also Lisa. I have had that problem well before this current issue with frames. Cropping feature wasn't working at all. I entered ticket & they fixed . Now when I upload a pict, it's too big. If I want it smaller, after I upload. I leave room & return & then is showing the correct size. lol. It's a riot. I miss the frames but I think, maybe back once fixed. One can only hope.

Also before I leave the room. I d-o-n-t hit save or ok. Basically just changing pict only. Just needed to add that to give full info. Someone may be having same problem.

ok, it was my understanding that the elimination of the frames would help the functionality of the hotel. this was according to the post last week or so from support. well, now, if anything, things are WORSE. now the frames we do currently have won't empty out, and empty frames ready to be loaded with new pics, "shrink" causing a real headache....to some it is no big deal, but to me, it is. i pay for my account to use the hotel, it is my favorite game here. now, i have to sign out and in several times just to get into my rooms...and when i finally arrive in my rooms, they wont fully load, so have to leave, once again, go back, cross fingers to see if room fully loads. now this has been going on for well over a week now, with no results. are there any others out there experiencing these problems? i filed a ticket.....but no real results as of yet.

I am sorry to see the pic frames, speech bubbles, and doors leave the hotel store. However, it seems like the definition of "sporadically" has been changed to never. In place of the items Iwin has removed from the inventory, they could at least add some new items.... Just saying

hmmm, it seems to me if they could fix the "functionality" of the hotel by removal of the ability to purchase frames, then they could also fix the ONGOING problems with the CURRENT EXISTING frames that we do have. i have frames that i have that won't always keep their pic, or pics shrinking, or unable to remove a pic when i want....but according to the ticket i submitted about this problem...i got the usual response, "due to lack of engineering.....no fixes for hotel in the near future" i pay for this gamesite, to play games...ALL games including hotel. very frustrating........
