Just got done playing Babylonia, for the afternoon, that is. I bought it before the trial was over. It is produced by Suricate, the same company who created Jewel Match and Jewel Match 2, so there are quite a few similarities, most notably the sound effects but the back ground music is very apropo for each site being rebuilt. The other feature like Jewel Match is game play. The power-ups, the hammer, the matched objects container, the manna container and methods to achieve these items are basically the same though graphically different. The main difference is the addition of a flower garden which the player must maintain while rebuilding the ancient site. So a little bit of budgeting comes into play. The flowers, water and insecticide come out of the same budget as the power up improvements, larger jewel storage bins, manna refill, etc. At first I thought the garden was superficial....NOT. When I failed to water or buy new flowers in order to purchase a power-up, the omniscient goddess Ishtar decided to take away the entire footing I just played 20 minutes to earn....nasty wench.
The matching objects are beautiful little flower head replicas which actually look like they are Swarovski's, too pretty to break. The dozen or so flowers for the garden are very lifelike so the scene doesn't look like a coloring book. Matching gets progressively difficult as the game goes on due in part to more complex layouts though not harder than Jewel Match 2, so far. The great part about this match 3 is not having to wait for action to stop on the board before making other matches elsewhere. This is a big deal to me especially if you're running against the clock. So many really cool looking match 3's fall down in this department, so that's why I bought this baby before the trial was over. Still can't understand why some game producers don't program their match 3's like this; I'd buy them all if they did. Since I'm a match 3 afficionado anyway, I really like this game. So anyone who likes Jewel Match 2 in particular, you're going to like this one, too. JMHO
