This is the original match-three game, or so they say. Well, there have been MANY improvements since the original. The graphics are basic and fuzzy, the music is unmemorable, and there is no story. Worth downloading only to experience the original and appreciate how much the concept has been upgraded. Just about any other match-three game is better than this.

Personally, I think Bejeweled 2 is an improvement, but in being the opriginal match-3 Internet game, Bejeweled earns its merits. On one hand, you've got only one mode to play, and its graphics look more like the game was made for the now-extinct Sega Genesis with mild, almost muted music and sound effects to accompany them. Still, the idea is simple and addictive enough to have inspired so many other games on today's market, and popular ones at that. Overall, it's worth downloading as a means of paying one's respects to PopCap for making it and to its much-improved sequel, even if one doesn't plan to buy it.
