Job Description
iWin is seeking a Game Development Manager to manage the development of downloadable and multiplayer games. The Manager will be responsible for managing a team of developers with the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities and Essential Functions Include:
Drive the development of casual games for the PC platform (Windows) including online multiplayer games.
Supervise game engineering team and manage all aspects of engineering for multiple simultaneous projects. Supervise the design, architecture, and implementation of these projects. Conduct code and design reviews.
Work closely with producers, game design, art and QA teams and foster fast and efficient game development process. Coordinate with multiple groups, including a console platform team, Web team, a server development team, and a content acquisition team.
Participate in the planning and negotiation of programming resources for multiple competing projects in their varying phases. Work with the development team and producers to create realistic schedules. Manage product delivery, identify and address problems in production and release in a timely manner.
Participate in on-going performance assessment of programmers and the establishment and deployment of best practices for the team.
Support the programmers in handling issues of conflict resolution involving competing needs within the department and between departments and projects.
Assist in the creation of recruiting policies and procedures for programming, and help drive the recruiting efforts for programmers.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree or equivalent experience or training.
10+ years of software development experience with minimum of 4 years of game development experience.
2+ years experience providing leadership to a small team of game developers.
Experience with a variety of software development methodologies and tools and in-depth understanding of the software development lifecycle.
Solid understanding of project management practices and principles including experience managing development plans, project schedules, and cross-group collaboration activities. Knowledge of scheduling tools such as MS Project a plus.
Strong communication skills with ability to handle interpersonal and inter-departmental relations, good organization and documentation skills.
Solid grasp of C/C++ in Windows environment, knowledge of Java and Macromedia Flash a plus.
Passion for gaming.
Game design experience, especially with casual games, a plus.
