Senior J2EE Engineer

Do you want to spend your life making other peoples lives more fun? iWin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with experience developing in Java on Linux for high-volume commercial web applications. If you've got the right stuff, you will work closely with other engineers to make iWin's successful suite of community gaming sites the best on the web. We need you to optimize for increased scalability, enhance existing features, and develop new features to delight our users with what is possible in a casual gaming community.

Responsibilities:

• Design and development of innovative new features using latest technical approaches
• Maintain and enhance iWin's web applications and backend systems
• Design in application support for maintaining the production environment
• System planning and refactoring for continued growth
• Development of tools for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of core systems
• Performance tuning
• Work closely with front-end engineers, who expose your brilliance to our user community
• Hang out in a creative environment where hardwork, technical excellence and self motivation are recognized and rewarded

Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years Java experience
• Minimum 5 years UNIX/Linux experience
• Experience with OO analysis/design, knowledge of software methodologies and best practices
• Expert level J2EE/EJB skills and experience with app server configuration and tuning
• Thorough understanding of multi-threaded programming - locking strategies, concurrent data structures, deadlock avoidance
• Relational database experience including schema design, query tuning, etc.
• Financial transaction experience
• Experience in solving scalability and performance issues
• Proven ability to deliver quality software and meet aggressive deadlines
• Desire to learn new technology on a regular basis
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Positive energy and willing to work in a start-up environment

Pluses:

• Advanced MySQL and PostgreSQL experience
• JMS, Javagroups, or similar group messaging tools
• Perl, Python, or other languages
• Distributed caching experience
• Passion for games
• Familiarity with AJAX design patterns / methodologies
• Exposure to Flash development
